The Women of the South Scholarship is a one-time award. The recipients of this award will be determined on the basis of financial need, honors and activities. Special consideration will be made for working students. To be eligible, students must be first-time entering freshmen at an in-state college or university, beginning classes in the fall following their senior year of high school. Students are only eligible to receive the award for their freshman year of college and may not defer the scholarship. Scholarships will continue for the second semester providing the recipient maintains a 2.5 GPA, provides a copy of the first semester transcript, and provides a written statement addressing progress made in college work, her program for the future and the meaning of a college education. Upon the receipt of this information, the remainder of the scholarship will be issued.
Funds may be used for tuition, fees, and books at any academically accredited two-year, four-year or vocational technical nonprofit institution in Oklahoma. Payments are made directly to the school.
Women of the South was founded in April of 1995. The purpose of their non-profit organization is to provide higher educational opportunities to women in the south metropolitan area. Scholarships will be awarded to high school senior women from south Oklahoma City and Moore.
