June Mitchell McCharen Scholarship


  • A graduating senior of Harding Charter Preparatory High School.
  • Must be nominated by faculty of Harding Charter Preparatory High School.

Financial need is considered.

Funds may be used for educational-related expenses such as tuition, fees and books at any academically accredited two-year, four-year or vocational technical nonprofit institution in the United States. Payments are made directly to the school. No more than six credit hours may be completed online each semester.

The June Mitchell McCharen Scholarship was established at the Oklahoma City Community Foundation in December 2010 by the family of Mrs. McCharen.

  1. How has Harding Charter Prep High School made a positive impact on your life? How has this impact influenced your college aspirations?
  2. Submit the name and email address of a faculty member at Harding Charter Preparatory High School who has agreed to submit a letter of nomination for the June Mitchell McCharen Scholarship on your behalf. The letter will focus on the thought: "With all of the challenges this student has encountered, I am amazed that he/she persisted and is eligible for graduation." Please make sure your reference has received an email from us. If not, contact us at scholarships@occf.org.
  3. Did you submit your household's FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR) for the coming year when you completed the General Application? (NOTE: If you answered "no", please know that financial need may be considered for this scholarship, and to be eligible for this scholarship you need to return to the General Application and attach a FAFSA or a 1040 if you cannot complete the FAFSA.) If you are unable to complete the FAFSA, please be sure to indicate your financial circumstances on your General Application under the particular circumstances question.
