Carrie Ann Nix Blakey Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility:
- Eligible applicants must be a graduating high school senior from the greater tri-city area in Oklahoma (Tuttle, Blanchard, Chickasha, Minco, Bridge Creek, Newcastle, Amber-Pocasset, Moore, Westmoore, Southmoore, Yukon or Mustang). Preference will be given to applicants from Tuttle High School.
- Unweighted cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0.
- Preference will be given to applicants who (1) attend Steppin’ Out Dance Studio, (2) participate in dance or cheerleading activities, and/or (3) demonstrate a desire to study dance or participate in collegiate cheerleading. Applicants: Please provide information regarding participation in these activities on your resume.
The Carrie Ann Nix Blakey Memorial Scholarship is a one-time award.
The Carrie Ann Nix Blakey Memorial Scholarship may be used for tuition, fees and books. The award may be used at any academically accredited, nonprofit educational institution in the United States, including vocational/technical centers. Payments are made in two installments (fall and spring semester) each academic year directly to the student’s school after proof of enrollment has been provided to the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. Payments are issued in the following academic year. No more than six credit hours may be completed online each semester.
The Carrie Ann Nix Blakey Memorial Scholarship was established in 2018 by Carrie’s husband and daughters. This scholarship encourages graduating high school seniors from the greater tri-city area to pursue a degree in higher education. A longtime dance teacher, studio owner and Tuttle resident, the Carrie Ann Nix Blakey Memorial Scholarship gives preference to dancers and applicants graduating from Tuttle High School. This is an endowed fund of the Oklahoma City Community Foundation.
